Just before the last general election in 2022, my colleagues and I went to a ceramah in Petaling Jaya organised by the DAP.
During the ceramah, several DAP leaders spoke on stage, and their message was all too resoundingly clear.
I fall under the new voters group, and the 2022 general election was the first for me and my colleagues.
We were all excited about the ceramah, fired up, and eager to cast our votes and make a change for a so-called better Malaysia.
The message was clear from the DAP leaders – reject corruption, reject abuses of power, reject cronyism and of course, reject UMNO at all cost.
Yes, we heard and digested this message and this is exactly what we did on polling day.
We were confident our votes would make a difference and that UMNO, especially its allegedly corrupt leaders would be voted out.
When the results were announced, we were all gathered at a friend’s house and were overjoyed that UMNO was trailing behind in the vote count.
However, a few days later all our joy turned to utter disgust and sadly, we the younger generation were left disillusioned.
DAP and PKR, which just a few days before the election, were all gung-ho and drumming in the message that we should reject UMNO no matter what were now singing a different tune.
How could they suddenly in the blink of an eye switch sides and join hands with their once upon a time, sworn enemy?
In short, the DAP and PKR cheated us. They literally lied to us and now they (DAP leaders) – just six months after the general election – are trying to brainwash us to love UMNO instead.
To us, the younger generation, this is absolute nonsense and has left us in total distrust. DAP and PKR are just liars who will do anything to get into power.
They were so desperate for power that they were willing to sell out all their principles and morals, and to us, this is absolutely disgusting.
I and my friends will never ever vote for the DAP or PKR ever again. After 2018, we thought they would learn a lesson, but it sure does not seem like it.
What is wrong with these DAP and PKR leaders? You got someone from UMNO to be the prime minister in 2018 and look how that ended.
And now, deja vu, you are doing it again. Enough is enough. We would rather not come out and vote at all than vote for a bunch of hypocrites.
