MPN set up to resolve transportation issues

A National Transportation Council  (MPN) is being set up to discuss various issues related to transportation across the country including Sabah and Sarawak, said  Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.

He said the MPN will be platforms to discuss, analyze and solve issues facing transport in each country involving the ministry and related agencies across the state.

"MPN will be chaired by myself and serves to help solve the problems faced in each country," he told reporters after opening the general meeting Sabah MCA,yesterday.

"Issues to be discussed include how to realize the MPN Sepanggar port as the main port of the country and how to reduce the cost of living in Sabah through effective transportation program by the state government.

He said, before the formation of the council is an initiative of the ministry after several discussions with the relevant parties including the Minister of Transport Infrastructure Development, Tan Sri Joseph Pairin.

"The council, comprising representatives of all the states shall meet at least twice a year to discuss issues related to transportation facing every country.

Tiong Lai said, MPN is a cornerstone of the country who are facing the issue of transport in order to address problems further discussion and resolution measures can be taken and implemented more effectively.

Meanwhile, Liow, who is also MCA president, said the party remains committed to the development in Sabah, especially in the economic field and serve the people.

He said, especially in Sabah MCA position is getting stronger and the party is also ready to face the general election (GE) will come.
