Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) today launched its latest product, Hibah Amanah, and is targeting 50,000 of its depositors to register for the product within its first year.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom, said TH's effort to develop the product, particularly for its nine million depositors, was lauded as it would help to reduce the issue of unclaimed deposits.
In a statement, he said it would also enable depositors to manage their financial affairs more effectively, and avoid disputes over inheritance upon their death.
The Hibah Amanah (trust gift) is a contract/agreement whereby the depositor voluntarily 'gifts' his savings to the beneficiary (ies) during his lifetime, and the beneficiary (ies) would be able to claim the savings according to the specifications of the agreement upon the depositor's demise.
However, the depositor would still be able to enjoy the full benefit from his savings and conduct transactions during his lifetime.
The Hibah Amanah is unique as it allowed a Muslim convert to gift his savings to his non-Muslim beneficiaries, and thus is more universal in nature, said TH.
Those wishing to register for the product may do so at any TH branch nationwide, and may visit TH's website at www.tabunghaji.gov.my for further information.-12/5/2017
